# Contract clauses

> Check a clause against your own policy before legal review.

Section: Examples. Web page: https://www.launchables.ai/docs/examples/policy-clause

A supplier's contract arrives for review. Before a lawyer reads it in full, check each clause that matters against your organisation's own policy, so their time goes to the clauses that need it.

## The request

```json
{
  "model": "myles-g-31b",
  "state": {
    "our_policy": "Personal data may only be processed in the UK or in countries the UK recognises as adequate. Any transfer elsewhere needs our written approval in advance.",
    "clause": "11.3 The Supplier may transfer and process Customer Personal Data in any country where the Supplier or its sub-processors operate."
  },
  "questions": {
    "fit": {
      "type": "choice",
      "instructions": "Does this clause meet our policy?",
      "criteria": {
        "meets": "The clause is consistent with the policy",
        "conflicts": "The clause allows something the policy forbids",
        "unclear": "Whether it meets the policy depends on facts or terms not given"
      }
    }
  }
}
```

## Reading the answer

```
"fit": {"type": "choice", "choice": "conflicts", "confidence": 0.86,
        "probabilities": {"meets": 0.02, "conflicts": 0.92, "unclear": 0.06}}
```

- Send `conflicts` and `unclear` to the reviewer with the clause highlighted. Mark `meets` as checked only above a high threshold.
- Ask one request per clause, with the policy text in each, so every answer can be traced to the words it was based on.

## What to watch

- This supports a reviewer; it does not replace legal advice. Keep a person responsible for the decision to sign.
- When the policy changes, change the state, then re-check your thresholds on a sample of clauses you have already reviewed.
